Reflections

The idea that students learn best from direct, hands on experience is a guiding philosophy of the Tiger Open Pathway program. An essential element for learning from experiences is active reflection. If a student has an experience and does not take time to consciously think about, or reflect on their experiences, they most likely will not learn from that experience.

Reflections in the Tiger Open Pathway require a student to spend focused time thinking about their experience, their thoughts and feelings during the experience, what was learned, and what changes can be made to grow to be better, or learn more, going forward. TOP students are required to produce a ‘reflection’ for each onsite and expeditionary learning trip.  These personal reflections are usually completed in a written format however, they can take many forms.
